Research & Development Day One: Projections

“Never regret thy fall, O Icarus of the fearless flight For the greatest tragedy of them all Is never to feel the burning light.” Oscar Wilde

Today the Adaire to Dance creative team were back in the studio at Déda for day one of research and development on our new work, Icarus (working title). Following an introduction to the general concepts and outline of the myth of Daedalus and Icarus by Artistic Director, Alice and Rob & Matt (our amazing co-creators from Illuminos) the dancers started generating movement material based on topics of myth, interpretation and labyrinths. During the second part of the day the dancers worked intensely with Matt and Rob exploring the possibilities of dance and digital projections of a labyrinth which created some very stimulating visual effects. They then continued to refine and evolve ideas surrounding the interplay between projection and person. Watch this space and follow us on Instagram and Twitter @adiretodance as the research process continues and we start to unravel initial ideas, themes and motifs expressed within this epic myth.
